SaMED 2017 | International Medical Students Congress Sarajevo

We are pleased to announce that BoHeMSA is, once again, one of the coorganisers of the International Medical Students Congress Sarajevo  – SaMED 2017.

Three years ago, young students from Faculty of Medicine University of Sarajevo aimed to create a unique gathering of science, skills, knowledge and friendship in Sarajevo, in which they have succeeded imensly. SaMED has already established itself as the largest student Congress in the field of biomedicine in Southeast Europe, with over 300 participants from 30 different countries in last year.

Taught by previous experience, this year we went a step further in terms of the participants, lecturers and partners of SaMED. Along with the large number of participants, leading medical experts form Europe and world have already confirmed their partaking at the Congress. Their presence certainly tells us about the important role of SaMED in the field of medical sciences. Some of our eminent speakers are:

1. Ivan Damjanov MD, PhD – Professor at the University of Kansas, Department of Pathology,
2. Samra Turajlić MD, PhD – Clinical Scientist in Translational Cancer Therapeutics Laboratory at the Francis Crick Institute in London,
3. Kenan Arnautović MD, PhD – Professor at the University of Tennessee, Department of Neurosurgery and a Diplomat of the American Board of Neurosurgery.

We are proud to announce that one of the partners of this year’s Congress is International Jurnal of Medical Students (IJMS). This means that all accepted abstracts will be published in the journal as a supplement edition and will be available to all participants during the Congress. Ten of the best works in the Congress will receive an official invitation to submit their complete papers for publication in the journal.

As before, the participants of the congress will have the possibility to be present at a number of workshops covering various practical aspects of medicine that students need to know in their practical work. Novelty of this year’s SaMED  is preCongress training. In cooperation with the Mountain Rescue Service, the participants will take part in a unique training simulations to help injured in winter conditions, which will equip them with the skills needed to handle this situation.

The Congress will be held from 01.02. to 05.02.2017. in Sarajevo.
